Comrade Mook of the Sydney Rocketeers graced us with his presence for RCDNT2.
He kindly sent the following when I asked him to write us a brief trip report:

‘Visit to RCD NT #2’
I was lucky enough to attend the second rocketcar day in the NT a couple of weeks ago and made the following notes on the back of my hand:

Extremely hot in Darwin. Best not to venture anywhere too far, too fast or too often
Good turnout with 19 cars.
Food category strongly represented with carrot car with goon valve wheels.
Tropical roads have a big camber (humpedness).
Cars hate camber.
A little drogue goes a long way.
Flying number plate: not worst car idea ever (see the results of the inspired “The King” as evidence).
Last year's winner went backwards: note to self, sabotage previous year's winners if necessary.
Is hot hot hot
Could advance interstate rivalry to a frenzy.

Sadly the rest of my notes were erased from my hand due to the sheer amount of sweat I generated due to the heat, which I mentioned earlier.

A noticeable headwind persisted throughout the contest today, hence the less impressive distances when compared to last time.

Congrats to Elendil for his winning number-plate.

Commiserations to Mick for his (negative) result with Led Sled.

Catch of the day went to Mook, who caught a C11 engine on the full when it popped from Juz's vehicle.

Lastly, a very special mention to Sam, who sent me the following text later in the day:

"One of my wheels was jammed from my first run. That's why it went so retarded after that. Fuck! I should have checked it."

Not a bad mid-field placing of 50 feet, considering that.

Thanks to everyone who showed; spread the word, and next time bring more spectators.

We are yet to decide on the date for the next 'un...give us a few days to think about something other than rockets.

If we wait for Dave then it'll be some time in March or April.

Source for Estes engines
We have approximately 30 "C" size engines available at the bargain price of $7 each. Send us an email if you would like to reserve some.
Please be ready to pay on the day - money talks, beggars get a silly car with no engine.

If you want to try an oversized "C11" engine please contact Dave.

Wheels etc are available from Yee's in Stuart Park, but get in now to avoid disappointment. (Last time we cleaned them out!)

If you build it, they will come.

Just over 2 weeks to go, people!

Rumour has it we will be facing some serious Southern competition - Mr Mook has gone all high-tech with some metallic creation of his.

Time to pull out collective fingers out and show some Territory Pride.
(Either that or make a piss-poor half-arsed attempt, doomed to failure)

I have it on good authority that there will be some video goodies of RCDNT #1 up here _very_ soon.

I also heard a whisper about an impending RCD in Melbs - so if any of you Mexican mob are interested, send us your details and we'll pass them on.
