Building Tips
Peeps, to avoid ridicule you need to go further than sticking a rocket on a toy car. The mother site has heaps of pictures if you are looking for car ideas, everything from fruit to sex toys have made an appearance. Once you have sussed out your general body shape and gathered components the most important bits are wheels, axles and rocket mounting.
- Wheels
- can be bought at hobby shops
- taken from new or 2nd hand toys
- Axles
- some wheeled toys already have this going on, plunder but remember the race is probably on a road, so big wheels rule
- you can use rods, like aluminum or brass
- buy these rods from hobby shops, hardware or metal supply places
- don't go for hollow rods as they tend to bend on launch, causing amusing but unnecessary pain
- Fixing wheels on axles
- use some sort of collar on the rod
- little rubber o rings
- fuel tube for model petrol cars (hobby shop)
- funny little metal collars with grub screws for that over engineered look
- Fixing rocket to car
- Dave has the little tubes of joy, so Sunday is the day for getting this right, things that have worked in the past
- metal tubes from cigars
- metal tubes from textas
- gluing rocket to car (not much fun for multiple launches)
- carving the right shaped hole in the pumpkin that makes up the body of the car

TWO BIG TIPS
either make a long rocket car body
OR
hang a long light streamer off the back to keep a shorter body going straight
I have cleaned out yee's in Winellie of cheap wheels, he will have more on the Friday b4 the race. I might have one pair free today.
